I’ve been at this writing thing my whole life.

My first published work was a story I penned during class in the second grade about a giant runaway matzoh ball. My teacher confiscated the notebook I was writing in, but after she saw what was inside, she copied and printed it out for my classmates to read.

Since then, I’ve written columns for Sports Illustrated, ads for small businesses, and even press releases for law firms about mergers and wins (fascinating, I know). And whenever I pick up my pen, I make sure every word counts. 

But for me, it all comes back to the big idea. How to tell new stories or think of new ways to tell existing ones. How to find the giant runaway matzoh ball.
